State Highway 18 was the scene of several accidents this past week when fog rolled into the Lake Arrowhead community. The first accident was a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck at the beginning of the week. The impact caused the truck to go over the guardrail and flip on its side; it did not go down the hillside. The passengers were trapped briefly. The highway lanes were blocked while emergency crews cleaned up the debris.
Once that accident was cleared away, another one occurred. A car coming around the bend crashed into the car in front of it causing a chain reaction with other cars. An individual was hurt and taken to a local hospital for moderate injuries.
These and other accidents this week were caused due to fog and bad visibility on the roads. The accidents resulted in minor injuries, smashed trucks and cars and very tired law enforcement officers and tow truck drivers. If you were the victim of an accident that occurred while driving in fog, contact an experienced Personal Injury attorney to find out your next steps.

A 20-year old man, was killed by a pickup truck while crossing a street in San Bernardino recently. The driver, a 20-year old man drove away from the scene leaving a critically injured victim.
According to California Vehicle Code 2001(a), “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.” In addition, California Vehicle Code Section 23152(a) states, “Driving under the influence is also a serious crime.”
Authorities caught up to him and arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving. I would like to extend my condolences to the family of the man for their tragic loss. I hope the family contacts an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will make sure the negligent party is held accountable for this fatal accident. The family would be wise to file a wrongful death claim seeking medical and funeral expenses along with loss of a loved one.

It does not seem that long ago since a 12-year old boy was injured while skateboarding on the shoulder of a Hesperia street. The driver of a pickup truck, crashed into him. The young boy suffered major head trauma and a compound fracture to one of his legs.
According to a report made by the California Highway Patrol a few years back, Hesperia only reported 5 deaths and a little over 30 injuries involving alcohol-related accidents. The man was arrested for suspicion of a felony DUI.
I hope the family of this young boy contacted a Personal Injury attorney who is experienced in making sure negligent and drunk drivers are held responsible for their actions. He or she can also advise the family what to do if the negligent driver had no insurance or not enough insurance to compensate them for all of their expenses.
This young man is in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
