Spinal cord injuries are one of the most catastrophic injuries a person can sustain.  This type of injury can leave a person paralyzed and without the sense of touch and temperature.   A spinal cord injury can change a person’s life drastically.  It occurs as a result of an automobile or truck accident where the driver was negligent.

Paralyzed individuals face the risk of blood clots because with no movement, blood cannot move through the veins properly and the heart cannot pump the blood the way it should.

Statistics show that approximately 15,000 people sustain spinal cord injuries every year in the United States – most are permanently paralyzed and many die from this injury.

If you sustained a spinal cord injury as a result of an accident with a negligent driver, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney as soon as possible.  People who sustain spinal cord injuries will probably require long-term medical care.  A dedicated attorney will help you recover monetary damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages.

A wrongful death happens because of another person’s negligence or actions.  A wrongful death lawsuit is a claim against that person who may be liable for the death.

Most cases are filed by a close relative.  California law provides for financial damages to be recovered.  These include all financial support, past and future, provided by the decedent before death, funeral and burial expenses.  Non-economic damages, such as the loss of your loved one’s companionship, love and affection can also be recovered.

If you have lost a family member because of someone else’s actions, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney regarding your options.

Depending on the nature of the case, California law states that a wrongful death action must be filed within two years of the date of the death – other time periods apply to other cases. Your attorney will know how long you have to file.

Statistics show that the rate of dog bites has risen.  Did you know that dog bites account for more than four million injuries in the United States every year?

Statistics also indicate that most of the time children are the victims with injuries occurring to their face and/or neck.  Adults get their share of bites, but on a smaller scale.  In most instances but not all, the dog owner is financially liable for any injury their pets caused. An injured person does not have to show that the owner did something wrong – they have to show that the dog caused their injury.

If you are bitten by a dog, make sure you collect evidence, including photographs, witness statements, details surrounding the attack and contact information from those involved.  In addition, make sure you contact a San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who has been successful in other dog bite cases, and knows how to get the results you deserve.

A 63-year old man riding an all-terrain vehicle in Barstow died after losing control of his ATV the other day.  Losing control caused the ATV to overturn – causing the man to be thrown from it.

Even though ATVs are enjoyed by thousands of people every year, they can also be dangerous.  Accidents can result in head, traumatic brain injuries and in this case, death.  The number one reason for ATV accidents is negligence on the part of the driver, which includes improper training.

Another common cause of ATV accidents is equipment failure, such as defective brakes, tires, steering or suspension. Equipment failure is often due to negligence on the manufacturer’s behalf.

This accident is under investigation.  If it is determined that this man’s death was caused because of equipment failure, it would be wise for the family to contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to determine their legal rights and to find out if they are entitled to compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering.
