A 47-year old Apple Valley man on his motorcycle was killed in Victorville early the other morning when a 32-year old driver made a left-hand turn in front of him. The 47-year old man was unable to stop in time and was thrown from his bike.
California Vehicle Code Section 21801(a) states, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction which are close enough to constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement, and shall continue to yield the right-of-way to the approaching vehicles until the left turn or U-turn can be made with reasonable safety.”
He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead minutes later. Statistics show that approximately 10,000 people are injured every year in motorcycle accidents. A couple out for a fun-filled ride on his motorcycle the other day did not have the day they planned.
A Hemet man and his 48-year old female passenger were out for a ride when, for unknown reasons, he lost control. The passenger was thrown to her death.
It was reported that the motorcyclist was wearing an approved helmet, but his passenger was not. Officers believe the novelty helmet that she was wearing could have contributed to her death. In addition, the man only had an instructional permit and was prohibited from carrying passengers.

A 24-year old Fontana man was killed and two people were injured in a two-car collision on the Pomona Freeway over the weekend.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 24-year old man hit another vehicle in the rear while transitioning onto the San Gabriel River Freeway, causing him to lose control of his car, veer off the road and crash into a tree.
The 24-year old sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear what injuries the two other people sustained. The CHP is investigating the cause of this accident.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office reported that two young children, ages 15 and 6 were killed in an accident near the Nevada state line over the weekend.
According to witnesses, the SUV they were riding in swerved off the road, causing the vehicle to flip several times and land on its wheels about 200 feet from Interstate 15. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The parents were taken by air to a medical center in Las Vegas, where they lived.

A 34-year old Hesperia man riding his bicycle after dark the other night was killed when he was struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
