A 23-year old Twenty-nine Palms man died over the weekend on Highway 247 in Johnson Valley when his car rolled over. Statistics show that most rollover accidents happen with trucks and sport-utility vehicles.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, close to 300,000 rollover accidents are reported every year, claiming more than 10,000 lives. Reports indicate that rollover accidents are related to a vehicle’s stability in turns.
Reports show that drivers in a rollover accident are usually male and under 25 years old; alcohol often is a factor in the accident. The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine if alcohol caused this fatal accident or something else, like a mechanical defect.
If the results prove to be a mechanical defect, the family of this young man should contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to file a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the vehicle.

A 51-year old man walking with a bicycle in San Bernardino the other night was hit by a vehicle.
The pedestrian sustained major head and leg injuries, while the driver sustained minor injuries. The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital where he died the next day.
California law states that when a person gets off his or her bike and walks it, they have the same rights as pedestrians. They have not yet determined if the man was walking in a crosswalk at the time he was hit. However, if he was, California Vehicle Code Section 21950 states, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.” It continues with, “The driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of a vehicle or take any other action relating to the operating of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.”
Police are investigating to determine what caused this fatal accident. If you or a family member is the victim of an accident while crossing the street, I suggest you should contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will advise you or your legal rights and determine if you are entitled to compensation for injuries and medical expenses.

Here’s a new twist to a driver being chased by a sheriff’s deputy in Yucca Valley. He is believed to have caused a brush fire that burned about six acres over the weekend.
It all started when a pickup truck driver did not yield to a sheriff’s deputy trying to pull him over. The man continued on the road that led into the desert and before long, for unknown reasons, the truck caught on fire from the dry brush that covers the ground, and started to explode. The flames were climbing the Joshua trees and the entire area was engulfed in flames and smoke.
The driver apparently escaped and at the end of the day, he could not be found; however, police have a description of him. San Bernardino Fire crews spent hours putting out the fire
Because this man refused to stop when sheriff’s deputies tried to pull him over, a lot of damage to someone’s property was caused. Once police find and arrest him, the man should contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to find out his next steps.
