The eastbound side of Interstate 10 in Montclair was the scene of an accident between an automobile and a big-rig right before the lunchtime hour.
Significant damage to the automobile trapped the driver inside. California Highway Patrol officers and firefighters from two cities were called to remove the man from his auto. He was then taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital with injuries.
Depending on the results of the investigation to determine what happened, the man should contact a skilled San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to see if he can seek compensation for his injuries and medical expenses.

A 28-year old San Bernardino man traveling on Interstate 215 the other night crashed his vehicle into the back of a big-rig, according to California Highway Patrol.
The driver was in the southbound slow lane when he crashed into the rear of a trailer being pulled by a Freightliner, causing immediate fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 62-year old driver of the big-rig stopped and waited for the Highway Patrol to arrive.
The accident is under investigation to determine what caused the young man to crash into the semi-truck. I hope his family consults with an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney because upon completion of the investigation, they may be entitled to compensation for their tragic loss.

With gas prices soaring these days, more and more motorists are taking to riding motorcycles to and from work, when possible.
Have you ever noticed that when traffic comes to a stop, motorcycles are zig-zagging back and forth between lanes? Many people think this is dangerous and illegal. However, sharing lanes is legal as long as the motorcyclist is not going faster than the flow of traffic.
Lane splitting is when a motorcycle rides on the line between two lanes, specifically during rush hour or traffic congestion. It is legal as long as it is done in a safe manner. The best place to ride is between the carpool and lane #1 because there is a little bit of extra room between the vehicles. When traffic is moving at the speed limit, lane splitting can be considered unsafe; the motorcyclist can be cited.
Excessive lane changes could be considered unsafe and if a police officer is close by, the motorcyclist can be cited. There is no specific rule as to how many times you can change lanes; a police officer will determine if it was an unsafe number.
Good news – the California Highway Patrol has developed a new public awareness campaign called “Common roads, Common Sense”. It was created to help alleviate the number of motorcycle-involved collisions.
If you were injured because a motorcyclist was weaving in and out of the lanes on the freeway, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to determine if you can be compensated for your injuries and expenses.

As a reminder for those who already know and for your information for those who aren’t aware – especially in this rainy weather – the entrance to the eastbound 210 from the southbound 215 freeway can be dangerous.
The transition is a 270 degree loop and if that isn’t bad enough, the view to the left is impeded by concrete barriers, which may have been put there to prepare for a few days of construction work. The transition gives the driver less than 200 yards to change lanes or the driver is forced to exit onto the northbound 215 freeway.
The California Highway Patrol has reported that because of the construction on the freeway, accidents have increased significantly. Officers are patrolling the area, making sure laws are being enforced.
I am urging all motorists to drive carefully; construction will be underway for the rest of this year. Caltrans reports that the connectors from the northbound 215 to the westbound 210 and from the eastbound 210 to the southbound 215 should be completed by the first quarter of 2012.
In the meantime, if you are involved in an automobile accident because of construction of any other reason, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who can investigate the case for you.

A truck towing a trailer stopped at the Yermo agricultural inspection station to be inspected. A woman inspector had just finished inspecting the truck and gave permission for it to move on.
For no apparent reason, she stepped into the path of the trailer as it was preparing to leave the station, and was hit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the truck stopped after hitting the victim. The employee was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries sustained.
California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine why the employee stepped in the path of the truck and trailer. Depending on who was at fault, I suggest the two parties involved contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to make sure his or her rights are protected.

A big-rig waiting for gasoline on the shoulder of Interstate 15 was the scene of a fatal accident the other morning.
While the big-rig was parked on the side of Interstate 15 another big-rig came upon it and collided into it when it tried to avoid slower traffic on the freeway. The impact killed a 19-year old passenger in the parked semi-truck.
The drivers were taken to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries sustained. Several lanes on the freeway were closed for hours. The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
I hope they contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who can investigate and determine if they can file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver or the trucking company of the second truck.

What was supposed to be a fun three-day church mountain retreat for over 20 students from Pasadena turned into a nightmare for the group. The bus carrying the students and heading home, collided with an SUV, causing the bus to crash into a power pole and end up in a snowy ravine. The impact caused the seats to come loose and send all the passengers to the front of the bus. Some students were trapped under other students or under the loose seats. The SUV was driven by an off-duty San Bernardino County fireman.
It took rescue crews hours to free the passengers. The crash killed the 61-year old bus driver and sent the 23 passengers to local hospitals for treatment by ambulance and helicopters – ten were critically injured - two underwent emergency surgery. The others sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The CHP plans on investigating and reconstructing the accident to determine what happened. There was snow on the ground, but the road was clear. It was also determined that the bus may not have had seat belts.
One of the passengers, a 12-year old girl, is unconscious and in extremely critical condition.

California Highway Patrol reported that a pickup truck was forced over the side of the San Bernardino Freeway where it meets the Orange Freeway in Pomona. They believe it was a hit-and-run collision.
The driver was taken by air to USC Medical Center for treatment.
Under California Vehicle Code Section 20001(a), a hit-and-run is a serious violation.
I would like to advise him and his family to contact an experienced California Personal Injury attorney who will stay on top of the police investigation and make sure his legal rights and best interests are protected.

A 28-year old Bloomington man was recently driving south on Cedar when for no apparent reason, he drove into the northbound lanes. It has not been determined how fast he was traveling. A 52-year old woman in the northbound lanes hit the man head-on.
The man died at the scene. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment but died a short time later. The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine what caused the man to cross over into oncoming traffic.

A head-on collision on a Big Bear Lake mountain road claimed the lives of two men recently. A 65-year old man driving a Toyota was heading up Highway 38 while a 45-year old man driving a pickup truck was going the other way. It is not known why, but the man heading up the highway veered into the other lane and collided head-on with the 45-year old.
California Highway Patrol reported that both men were going at about 50 mph, making their combined speed at about 100 mph – making it a very strong impact. A passenger in the truck driven by the 45-year old man was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver died at the hospital.
The fatal accident is under investigation to determine why the 65-year old drifted into the lane going in the opposite direction; alcohol was not a factor.
