A man wanted to be a professional cyclist but that dream ended recently when he was killed by a high school senior, who lost control of his car while racing down the street with passengers and another vehicle on the wrong side of the road. His car went across traffic and ended on the shoulder where the man was riding alone. The impact threw him into the field where he died.
The high school students were not arrested, pending an investigation. None of the students was injured. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. It seems racing is common on the desolate stretch of road.
My heart goes out to the man’s family.

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin recently reported that a 65-year old man riding his bicycle in Upland was critically injured when an automobile hit him. Those that witnessed the accident told police that the man turned left in front of the automobile. The man was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
I feel badly for this man and wish him a speedy recovery.

Here in Southern California too many people ride dirt bikes off-road without wearing protective helmets. An accident on a dirt bike or ATV often leads to a traumatic brain injury. A helmet cannot prevent a head injury but can reduce the severity of it. The California terrain consists of bumps, ditches, and rocks, causing some vehicles to rollover and the rider can be ejected.
There are no official rules of the road and the rider must decide a safe speed limit. There are too many reckless riders off-road in California. There are too many dirt bikes that collide with other dirt bikes, causing serious injuries to one another. In addition, dirt bike riders enjoy stunt driving or jumps over obstacles. With that said, there are still laws that protect the riders from pure negligence by other parties.
I hope anyone involved in a dirt bike or ATV accident knows to contact a reliable and experienced Personal Injury attorney to fight for him or her.
