A 55-year old Caltrans truck driver attempting to enter traffic from the right shoulder on Interstate 15 in Victorville the other afternoon was almost hit by a big-rig. The big-rig swerved to avoid hitting the smaller truck and instead sideswiped another vehicle.

The sideswiped vehicle managed to pull off the freeway and onto the right shoulder. The driver of the big-rig lost control and hit a Cal Fire van and then an unoccupied Caltrans pickup truck that was on the right shoulder. The big-rig proceeded off the freeway and ended up crashing through the front door of a furniture store.

Several people were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the chain-reaction accident to determine how it happened.  If you are injured in a freeway accident, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will investigate the case, make sure the at-fault driver is held liable, and seek compensation for your injuries and expenses.

California Highway Patrol officers reported to the scene on the southbound side of Interstate 15 in Hesperia after a vehicle crashed into a big-rig.

It is suspected that the man had been drinking.  He died at the scene.

California Vehicle Code Sections 23152 (a) and (b) state, “It is a misdemeanor to drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and it is a misdemeanor to drive with .08% or more of alcohol in your blood.”  California law says that a defendant charged with drinking and driving can be convicted of both offenses.

Highway 330 in Lake Arrowhead was a nightmare during rush hour traffic the other morning when a vehicle collided with a big-rig and closed the road for more than five hours.

A 67-year old woman was heading down the road in her SUV when, instead of following the right-hand curve ahead of her, she continued driving straight, crossed the double yellow lines and crashed into the front bumper of a big-rig truck.  The impact caused her vehicle to spin around and land facing upright against a hillside.  In addition, the impact broke the big-rig’s front wheel and axle, causing it to jackknife and rupture the fuel tank – spilling about 30 gallons of fuel on the road.

The woman was trapped inside her vehicle; it took workers almost an hour to get her out.  She was then taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital and treated for major injuries.  The 29-year old big-rig driver suffered minor injuries; he, too, was taken to a nearby hospital.

If you are injured in an accident, contact a San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who is dedicated to holding those who negligently harm others responsible for their actions.  The right representation makes all the difference in case results.

A 53-year old big-rig driver from Adelanto was killed when his truck hit a concrete pillar on Highway 99 in Fresno recently.

A 41-year old passenger suffered minor injuries.  Investigators are trying to determine what caused this man’s death; it appears he did not die from injuries sustained from the accident.

The impact caused a fuel tank on the big-rig to rupture and leak fuel on the shoulder of the road.  The road was closed for more than two hours while the fuel was cleaned up.

If you are a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in an accident and you are injured, you would be wise to contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will determine if you are entitled to compensation for your injuries and medical

Statistics show that approximately 2,000 people were injured as a result of car accidents in San Bernardino County in a given year. Big-rigs take up a lot of space and are seen all over freeways in Southern California.

According to the San Bernardino Police Department at least one person was injured on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass recently when the vehicle he or she was in ended up underneath a big-rig.  Witnesses say the vehicle swerved erratically shortly before the accident occurred.  The individual was taken to a local hospital for treatment.  It is not known if the individual was the driver or a passenger.

The accident is under investigation to determine what caused the vehicle to go out of control.  Investigators are checking to see if it was a mechanical defect or if the driver was at fault.

If you are a passenger in a vehicle that crashes because of the driver’s negligence, the driver may be held liable for your injuries and damages.  Contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will explain your rights and options to you.

Two people were killed in an accident involving a big-rig in the San Bernardino desert near Red Mountain Road recently.

The 31-year old woman from Long Beach was traveling north on Highway 395.  Also killed was the 49-year old trucker, also from Long Beach.  According to California Highway Patrol officers, neither were wearing their seat belts.  A 27-year old survivor from Texas was flown to Loma Linda Medical Center with major injuries.

It was reported that the big-rig ran off the road, spilling more than 2,000 gallons of used motor oil that it was carrying.  The fatal accident is under investigation to determine what caused this to happen.

Once investigators determine what happened, I urge the families to contact a San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who is skilled in trucking accidents to see if they are entitled to compensation for their loss, expenses and pain and suffering.

Mar 15

A big-rig waiting for gasoline on the shoulder of Interstate 15 was the scene of a fatal accident the other morning.

While the big-rig was parked on the side of Interstate 15 another big-rig came upon it and collided into it when it tried to avoid slower traffic on the freeway.  The impact killed a 19-year old passenger in the parked semi-truck.

The drivers were taken to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries sustained.  Several lanes on the freeway were closed for hours. The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

I hope they contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who can investigate and determine if they can file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver or the trucking company of the second truck.

Dec 20

According to a recent article in The Press-Enterprise Newspaper, a 72-year old woman, a passenger in a vehicle on southbound Highway 95 near Lake Havasu, was killed when the vehicle was involved in a head-on collision.  An SUV traveling on the northbound lanes, crossed into the southbound lanes to pass a big-rig when it hit the car.

There is no word whether anyone else was injured.  Apparently, the driver of the SUV may have been at fault for making an unsafe pass.
