Fans all over San Bernardino were gathering this past weekend to watch the Super Bowl game.  They were gathered with friends, had plenty to eat and some too much to drink.

They were set for a fun afternoon and evening watching their favorite sport.  Some did not think about the possible consequences when it came time to drive home.

However, San Bernardino County law enforcement knew the possibilities; they were out and about throughout San Bernardino County looking for drunk drivers and ready to get them off the roads.

Although Super Bowl Sunday is a day for lots of fun among friends and family, it has also become one of the leading causes of car accidents in San Bernardino County.

Alcohol-related accidents are inexcusable because they could have been prevented by not driving while intoxicated.

If you have been injured in a drunk driver accident, your well-being should come first and your legal rights next.  Contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will aggressively pursue the drunk driver who injured you, an innocent person.  And, for next year, remember:  Fans do not let other fans drive drunk.

A 23-year old Pomona man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after driving on the wrong side of the 91 Freeway and crashing head-on with another vehicle the other morning.  The crash killed a 53-year old woman and seriously injured three other people.  They were taken to nearby hospitals.

CHP officers received calls of a wrong-way driver on the 241 and 91 Freeways early Sunday morning.

California Vehicle Code Section 23152 states that, “It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle.”

California law says that a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if his or her blood alcohol content is .08% or higher.  This applies to the use of drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, or even prescription drugs.  A driver who drives drunk is considered negligent; he or she chooses to put other drivers at risk.

The bottom line is intoxication by any means can cause accidents and severe personal injuries.  Motorists and pedestrians injured by intoxicated drivers have legal rights against the negligent driver and oftentimes the establishment that served the drunk driver the alcohol.

A drunk-driving accident can cause emotional trauma to you.  If you are a victim of a drunk driver, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney who will aggressively pursue compensation for your injuries.

My personal injury attorney’s Christmas wish to you is that you have a safe holiday travel season and make sure you take sensible steps to help reduce the risk of holiday car accidents.

Christmas time is one of the most dangerous times of the year to be driving.  The San Bernardino County freeways will be busy during this month’s holiday season, meaning there will be a greater potential for getting into an auto accident.  The National Safety Council estimates that more than 500 people across the United States will die in a motor vehicle accident while more than 50,000 will be seriously injured.  However, most car accidents can be prevented by using good judgment.

I want to wish you, your family and friends a wonderful holiday season.  Stay safe and if you have to drink, use a designated driver to get you home.  If you are involved in an accident, contact an experienced San Bernardino Personal Injury attorney to learn about your options and your rights.

The accident is under investigation but it appears alcohol may have played a part in this fatal accident.  No one else was injured.
